One of the most popular small family cars on the road is back with a new generation model. The Golf MK7 has a wide range of new features that keeps the Golf name fresh, modern and desirable. The newest feat of engineering that the new Golf boasts is the all new Volkswagen AG MQB platform, which allows a wider choice of engines and powertrains as well as contributing towards the Golf MK7 being up to 100KG lighter whilst also giving it a stronger and safer frame, not via the use of costly materials such as Aluminium and Carbon Fibre, but via the use of cleverly utilised steels in the places of the frame that matter, resulting in a more affordable Golf for you, the customers.

The design of the Golf MK7 features a sharper, more aerodynamic shape with elements of Volkswagen’s design DNA. The design DNA is a collection of iconic features that have been collected from the previous Volkswagen greats, such as the historic roofline and radiator grille crossbeam from the original Golf. These features help to keep the Golf MK7 unmistakably Volkswagen, while adding futuristic design features such as striking Xenon headlamps and bright red LED rear lights that make the Volkswagen Golf MK7 a challenge to miss.

The interior of the MK7 Golf is now more sophisticated and ergonomic. A new feature to all Volkswagens is a touch screen media system. The Golf MK7 includes a 5.8” colour touch screen system that is designed to not only be simple to use, but accommodate touch screen gestures as found in the latest smart phones, to make sure the Golf is more familiar to use from the start. Space has been increased on the interior via the use of a longer and wider wheelbase, passengers will now have more space to enjoy the Golf, as well as an extra 30 litres of boot space and new seating arrangements that now make the Golf even smarter at taking luggage. A DAB digital radio is built-in as standard as well as various media inputs including USB/ iPod connection and Bluetooth to make sure you can play your music and answer/make your calls without having to take your eyes off the road. A number of leather colour schemes are available too, so you can tailor the interior to be as you want it, modern and sporty, elegant and sophisticated, or even retro.

The Volkswagen Golf MK7 includes Volkswagen AG’s new generation engines. Featuring lower emissions, improved induction technology and fuel efficiency. The Golf MK7 is available with two petrol and two diesel engines, all offering superb performance whilst maintaining outstanding efficiency. The 1.2 petrol engine is the lightest option, featuring 85PS and 57.6mpg with 113 g/km. The 1.4 TSI 140PS unit is the most fun, with punchy performance and torque whilst also providing an amazing 58.9 mpg with 112 g/km with the inclusion of Stop/Start technology and the all new Active Cylinder Technology, which can deactivate two cylinders in the engine whilst not in use, drastically lowering fuel consumption. The Diesel line-up features a 2.0 TDI with 68.9 mpg and 106 g/km and a 1.6TDI with high torque on demand, yet a fantastic 74.3 mpg and 99 g/km. A DSG gearbox is also an option, which can increase fuel efficiency further as well as provide a completely smooth drive, with lightning quick road reactions and gear changes. Another new feature for the Golf MK7 is a driver profile selection, which allows the driver to choose from five different modes – eco, sport, normal, comfort and individual. Each mode will alter the throttle mapping and engine management as well as other parameters such as suspension and handling to provide an adaptable drive.

Golf MK7 SE. Additional specification includes: 16” alloy wheels, adaptive cruise control including front assist with city emergency braking, multi-function leather steering wheel, driver profile choices, light and sight pack and brushed stainless steel inserts.
Golf MK7 GT. Additional specification includes: 17” alloy wheels with sports suspensions, discover media system, with 5.8” touch screen nav’ system, cloth/ Alcantara seats, ambient lighting, rear tinted glass, chrome switch surrounds, front fog lights with turning function and chrome surrounds and park pilot including parking sensors.

The Golf MK7 is now priced lower than the previous model and is available to order from the 18th October 2012 and is on sale from early January 2013 with the super-efficient BlueMotion model, and sporty GTI and GTD models planned for mid 2013.
